Seine · official main stem

The Seine on physical national-network gauges, ordered upstream to outlet on one shared profile axis. Side rivers drop in from above with the flow they deliver, each arrow landing on the water where it joins; reservoirs and their latest operator readings sit on the way down.

None of the 104 gauges on this stem carries an operator threshold or a stored seasonal reference, so flow is shown but not judged.

How reservoir releases reach the river

Reservoir details

Water leaves the Seine through an intake canal and enters Lac d’Orient. A separate release canal returns stored water through two branches around Troyes. Diversion can reduce flow during floods; releases can support the river during dry periods.

Gauge coordinates and current discharge come from the named national hydrometric networks. The shared distance axis projects those GPS stations onto the dashboard’s sparse upstream-to-outlet spine; this is a profile axis, not surveyed navigation kilometre. The bed is interpolated between the dashboard’s anchor cells, because the registers on this river publish no gauge datum to draw it from. Where one register republishes another’s station, the two rows are one gauge and only the fuller record is plotted. River power is gravitational power carried by the flow (ρ·g·Q·Δh), not metered generation - it is a floor rather than a total, because a reach whose downstream gauge reports no discharge contributes nothing. The navigability line is an indicative planning threshold, not an official fairway forecast.
